Joe Wilson

I’m Joe Wilson. After almost 40 years working across Scottish education — from policy and qualifications to digital learning and open practice — I’ve stepped into a new rhythm of life. I still work, but on my own terms: projects that interest me, people I enjoy, ideas that feel worth exploring. I write here about the things that catch my attention: learning, technology, AI, policy, travel, and the odd moment of joy or frustration from life on the edges of the sector. I’m still passionate about open education, still curious about how systems evolve, and still hopeful that we can build something better for learners and teachers. These days I split my time between consultancy, writing, speaking, and wandering — sometimes literally, sometimes intellectually. I’m enjoying the freedom, the conversations, and the chance to reconnect with the parts of education that still feel alive. If you’ve found your way here, welcome. I hope something resonates

This blog is where I think out loud.
